Stephen Gutowski

About the Speaker:

I’m currently a Staff Writer at the Washington Free Beacon where I focus mainly on gun policy but have done investigative work on military dog adoptions and other topics. I often freelance for other publications like National Review, The Federalist, and Opportunity Lives in my free time. I’ve been a founding editor at several major media start-ups including MRCTV, Twitchy, and The Capitol City Project. I also used to produce and host a show called Games and Guns.

My work has been read by millions of people and featured on major media outlets from ABC to The New York Times to USA Today to CBS to The Drudge Report to Fox News. It has been cited by some of the most influential political commentators and politicians. Jake Tapper, Ted Cruz, Erick Erickson, Michelle Malkin, Glenn Greenwald, and Charles Cooke are just a handful of those who’ve used my work.

I’ve was named the Second Amendment Foundation’s 2016 Journalist of the Year, one of BuzzFeed’s “19 People Who Forced Their Way Into The Political Conversation Through Twitter,” nominated for a Best Investigative Piece award by the National Bloggers Club, and picked for the inaugural Red Alert Politics 30 Under 30 list.

In my career, which dates back to before I graduated college, I’ve had extensive experience writing, editing, reporting, and creating. I’ve also run a myriad of social media accounts, done on-camera work, and video editing. I’ve even done some site administration and design work.

I have been a member of Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE) and credentialed by the Senate Gallery in the past.
